The Bailey's 140 Years in London

During my trip to London, I had a chance to stay at the beautiful Bailey’s Hotel London, a sophisticated Victorian-era boutique hotel in the heart of Kensington. My first experience with The Bailey’s Hotel was impressive; the service and attention to detail the hotel provided for their guests were marvelous. I was lucky enough to call The Bailey’s Hotel London home during London Fashion Week.

Upon my arrival at the hotel, I was greeted with the warmest welcome from the friendly hotel manager and staffs. While the staff was helping me with the check-in, I had the most pleasant conversation with the manager. He was able to answer my questions and even provide a few tips on how to explore London.

After I set my foot in the room on the 4th floor, I was amazed by the beautiful furnishings and British style decorations. The room, located at the very quiet corner with the most pleasing street view, definitely made me feel like I was actually home.

The marble bathroom comes with a wall-mounted heating clothing rack (you can hang wet clothing on the rack to make it dry faster, pretty neat!) and a few bathroom necessities, such as a toothbrush, sewing tool and cotton buds. The king size bed is very comfortable. After a full day of walking around on the street, a good cozy mattress is indeed required to help you sleep well at the night. The huge working desk allowed me to place a laptop, camera equipment and other stuffs in one spot. There are electric outlets for American, British and European style plugs, which is very convenient if you forget to bring an outlet adapter with you.

The complimentary English breakfast, served at the charming Olives Restaurant and Bar, was super delicious: cereal, fresh fruits and juice, bacon, sausages, sunny-side eggs and a wide selection of breads and croissants with jams in the little glass jars.

What I love about The Bailey’s Hotel London is everything is within easy walking distance. Located just a few steps away from the hotel, the London Underground station can take you to every corner of London. Taking a tube/bus or walking instead of taking a taxi would make less hassle and delay on your schedule, because the traffic in London is not very enjoyable.

Around the Hotel

1. 15 minutes walk to Kensington Gardens and the Royal Albert Hall.

2. 10 minutes walk to the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

3. Gloucester Road Station (Piccadilly Line) is just right across the hotel. You can go from this station straight to the Soho area without a transfer.

4. Tesco Express (convenience store) and Pret A Manger (similar to Starbucks, a quick stop to grab food and drinks on the go), are just right across the hotel.

5. 15 minutes walk to The Troubadour, my favourite British restaurant with great fish and chips. You should visit for their Jazz night with affordable entrance fee (the advance fee is £6).

If you are planning to visit London in the near future, The Bailey’s Hotel London is celebrating its 140th Anniversary by offering a special package, which includes two-night stay, complimentary breakfast, a complimentary lunch for two, gift bag, arrival Prosecco and free Wi-Fi for £187.60 per night, for two people.
